My name is Gio Villapando, and I am an aspiring UX/UI Designer based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I'm currently in my final semester of the Interactive Design Diploma at SAIT, majoring in User Experience Design, where I acquired and honed skills in the practices of user research, cross-functional collaboration, and user-centric design, which enabled my peers and I to develop intuitive digital solutions.
My journey with UX/UI began at Mount Royal University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Sociology, and a minor in Psychology - my time in that program provided me with a solid foundation in research, critical thinking, and socio-psychological understanding. It was during the third year of that degree that I began to pursue Google's UX Design Certification online. When I realized that my education and skills in Sociology translated into the creative field of UX Design, I felt as if something had clicked for me.
With the skills and knowledge I've developed during my time as a UX Designer and student, I specialize in designing digital experiences that cater to the needs and goals of both clients and their end-users. I know that looks aren't everything - while visual appeal is part of my practice, I always strive for my designs to solve any given problems first and foremost.
