THE PROBLEM

THE PROBLEM
The first version of the gym's website faced multiple accessibility and usability issues, with illegible information, flawed responsiveness, and inconsistent styling being the most common frustrations faced by both the gym's owner and attendees.
To add onto this, there was no clear structure to the content and information. This discouraged potential leads and current members from using the website as the tool it was intended to be, which yielded negative results when it came to engagement for the gym as a business.

Starting on this project was relatively simple as the gym already had an existing brand identity. One challenge for me was to implement this identity in a way that was absent in the previous iteration of the website while considering the following:

All of the relevant information for the general public and current attendees was inaccessible. If there were pieces of information, they were either outdated or lacking structure.

— DISPLAY OF INFORMATION
One major point of concern from the gym's owner about the previous iteration of the website was the inaccessibility of relevant information for the general public and current attendees. If there were pieces of information, they were either outdated or lacking structure.
— USABILITY
After speaking to multiple gym members who often visited the gym's website, a general consensus was that the previous iteration was unusable due to the absence of proper information hierarchy and organization of visual elements, so this became the background of my approach.

— VISUAL APPEAL
Aside from proper organization of content, one other frustration was that the gym's website was unappealing to look at, which discouraged people from visiting and staying. This became my secondary area of focus.

SOLUTION
SOLUTION

My solution was a fully redesigned website which displayed all the relevant information needed for both current attendees and leads who would act as potential members. Key features include:
Timetable of weekly classes
Easily accessible contact form
Membership + private training pricing breakdown
Interactive "About" Page complete with coach bios + records
Since my completion of this project in March up until the time of this writing, the website experienced a 76% increase in site sessions, with 90% of those users visiting for the first time.
In regards to organic operations, the gym saw ~200+ trial sessions for newcomers, with about 40% committing to a full time membership, thanks to the website being an initial point of introduction to the gym.

— STRUCTURE OF INFO ARCHITECTURE
Without any initial wireframes and the short time that was allocated to me, keeping a clear idea of structure for the IA was key in allowing me to organize the content in a way that led to the solution.

— NO CODE TOOLS
This was the first time I had to go in depth with a no-code site builder. While it was convenient and quick, there were definitely some moments of frustration due to the limitations of Wix as a tool, which I am now fully experienced in.
